Establish economic alternatives that allow an improvement in the socio-economic reality of the populations living along rivers through productive activities and conservation of natural resources, creating suitable models for sustainable development for the communities of the Amazon region.

Micro-Credit: financing of up to R$ 800 for sustainable small enterprises, with very low levels of default, is providing economic opportunities in the communities themselves, especially for youth, and reducing the rural exodus.

 


 

Cabocla Women:

Recognizing the value of women

Forest Management in Tucumã ("TucumArte"): production and marketing of baskets by a group of women from Urucureá. These craftswomen allocate 10% of their profits to a community fund to support reproductive health.
 

 

Agro-forestry Systems: 8 demonstration projects implemented using fruit and forest species which improve production and reduce the need to use fire.

 

Processing of Products: 5 units implemented for processing fruits from agro-forestry systems for production of syrups and sweets add value to products and improve food availability between harvest seasons.

 

Raising of Small Animals: the creation of 4 community free range chicken operations is reducing pressure from hunting and fishing by increasing the supply of high-protein foods, along with generating income from the sale of chickens and eggs.

 

Renewable Energy: more than 25 community electrification systems are installed, creating the basic conditions for sustainable development.

 

 

Regional Food: complementing the school lunches with nutritious recipes using native plants available in the communities themselves.

 

 

Community Based Ecotourism: in partnership with the “Baggage Project”, tourism packages are created that include the natural beauties of the region and learning the realities of the people of the forest.
